DROVING INTO THE LIGHT

HANS HEYSEN OIL 1921
Framed 'airbrushed' (without glass)
Image Size: 500 x 650mm
Overall dimension: 600 x 750mm
The original is a large oil painting and one of the best known works by Hans Heysen. It was exhibited in Melbourne in 1922 and was soon purchased and donated to the Art Gallery of West Australia by Mr W H Vincent and remains one of their greatest attractions.
The farmer on horse back droving his sheep into the hot glare of the afternoon sun gives a feeling of harshness of the summer. It also records the life and work of the people around Hahndorf in the early part of the 20th Century.
